Abbey Road Institute Johannesburg Graduation Ceremony 2022 In London

On Thursday 7th and Friday 8th of July 2022, we joined the “Abbey Road family” for the first Global Graduation in three years.

This was the first global graduation ceremony since opening our doors in Johannesburg in 2020. Our students finally got to celebrate with other graduates from our international community of schools in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Sydney, Berlin and Frankfurt.

It was a remarkable feeling for all, standing on the steps of arguably the most famous studio in the world.  They walked through the same hallways as their biggest heroes and sat in the room where some of history’s most iconic songs were recorded. That legacy, that they are now a part of, will forever be stitched into their creative identities.

The Graduation Ceremony in Studio two

We gathered together in Abbey Road’s Studio Two.  Studio Two has been at the heart of popular music since it opened its’ doors in 1932. This room was made famous by artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Oasis, and Adele. Abbey Road Studios has been at the forefront of innovation in recording technology, a plethora of chart-topping artists and film soundtracks were recorded here.  All things considered, there is no better setting for our students to graduate on Studio Two’s stage. It was a truly special moment to share with the other graduates, their families and friends.

The atmosphere was electric as our graduates took their seats. After an introduction from Isabel Garvey, Abbey Road Studios’ Managing Director, our Academic Co-ordinator Ben Ludik congratulated the students on their exceptional achievement. Nile Rodgers and Andrew Scheps were some of the industry professionals that sent video messages to congratulate the students.

The After Party

After the graduation formalities, we migrated to one of London’s most iconic music venues, Scala, to celebrate in style. It was a momentous occasion, and an honour to be there. We can’t wait until next year!
